About Ardgye House: Ideally situated in the heart of rural Morayshire, Ardgye House is one of the finest examples of Edwardian architecture to be found of its type. This gracious mansion house stands in one hundred - and - fifty acres of its own grounds and enjoys an exquisite panoramic view over the beautiful Laich of Moray and out across the Moray Firth to the rolling hills of Sutherland in the North. Ardgye House, built in 1904, offers generous car parking facilities, single, double and family rooms all tastefully decorated and furnished in the period style with en-suite or private bathrooms. The dining room, with its magnificent original oak panelling, provides a splendid setting for a traditional Scottish breakfast.
Surrounding area: Ardgye House is centrally located in Moray and is easily accessible from the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road. It lies approximately 3.5 miles west of the Cathedral City of Elgin and is the ideal base for a variety of holiday activities. Moray has a climate second to none with one of the highest levels of sunshine in Great Britain. Guests at Ardgye House are ideally placed for taking full advantage of the many local attractions whether it's challenging golf courses, exciting water sports, fishing, forest walks or visiting the many whisky distilleries in the area. Perhaps staying in an establishment of architectural significance will provide the guest with a stimulus for further investigation of the historic buildings that abound in the area e.g. Elgin Cathedral, Pluscarden Abbey, the Tolbooth in Forres, Brodie Castle or the 18th century "New Towns" of Cullen and Fochabers. Alistair and Carol, both native to Moray will be only too pleased to provide the local information which will enable you to get the full benefit from your stay at Ardgye House. Its idyllic woodland setting supports a variety of flora and fauna. Beautiful rhododendrons, cherry trees and daffodils take pride of place and a stroll through the grounds may be further rewarded by sightings of squirrels, badgers, foxes and deer, or a friendly approach from the family of tame ducks.
Additional notes: The lounge, again with all original fittings, features an open fireplace and elegant furnishings and is the perfect room in which to relax and meet fellow guests. Children are made most welcome and there is ample opportunity for play and exploration in the spacious grounds.
