About Academy House: Dating from the early Victorian period the property was originally constructed as a school & school house. With the development of a new school in the 1880's the property was enlarged to house the rector and boarding pupils to the famous Fordyce Academy. Following the closure of the senior school in 1963 the property lay unused until 1977 when its present owners, Sandra and Richard Leith purchased it. Over the years the house has been upgraded to a very high standard combining old fashion comfort with modern luxury. The accommodation is situated in the first floor and consists of a large twin bedroom with private bathroom and a large double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Each room is beautifully decorated and furnished with a sitting area, colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and hair dryer. Guests have the use of the recently refurbished sitting room that boasts a wide range of reading material including tourist information on the surrounding area. There is also a piano, which the guests are encouraged to play. Perhaps one of the main reasons for the number of visitors returning to Academy House is the food. Served in the dining room, breakfast is from 8.00 to 9.30 am and dinner from 7.00pm onwards. Breakfasts cover all requirements from full cooked Scottish Breakfast to a plentiful array for the guests who prefer a continental style breakfast. Dinner is a treat and can develop into an enjoyable dinner party with good company and conversation. Wine can be brought in. All meals are cooked using fresh local produce, in the main, which is readily available with all diets catered for.
