About The Tink Holiday Cottage: Nestled on the banks of the River Dee on the eastern edge of the charming and picturesque village of Ballater lies 'The Tink Holiday Cottage'. The 'Tink' was originally the public bar belonging to the Invercauld Arms Hotel (now renamed the Monaltrie hotel). It was so called because of the many Tinkers who frequented the upper Deeside area who used it as their 'watering hole'. It was converted into a private cottage in the mid 1980's and has now been refurbished and is available for rent as a holiday home.
