Some four miles further on, the road passes Fortor Castle once the stronghold of the Ogilvie Clan in the Blairgowrie area. After more than 300 years the castle has recently been fully restored. The River Isla, a tributary of the River Tay rises from the Monega Pass, 3000 feet above sea level, near Braemar, passing through Blairgowrie as the Tay River.
