About Bathgate Golf Club: The Club was formed at a meeting held on 12th May 1892 and the original 9 holes layout was prepared by Mr William Park (Junior) of Musselburgh. The course was officially opened on 22nd June 1892 by the Master of the Edinburgh Merchant Company who were the superior landlords of the land on which the course was situated. This link remains until today with an annual match played between the clubs. The course was extended to 18 holes and a match between two professionals marked the official opening on 11th May 1907, Mr Ben Sayers of North Berwick and Mr Willie Fernie of Troon partnered by two amateur members of the Club. The club and ball used to open the course are on display in the Club trophy cabinet. The course has 18 holes measuring 6328 yards par 71, SSS 70. The layout is generally flat and easy walking. There is a practice area, practice green, nets and three putting greens. The clubhouse which is open 7 days features; Main Function Suite and Bar with a capacity for 120 and includes dance floor and dining area and overlooks the last hole and putting green, quiet Lounge Bar with a capacity of 30 and overlooks the last hole and putting green, golfers Bar which contains Satellite TV and Pool table, separate locker and changing areas for Ladies, Gents, Juniors and Visitors all fully serviced with toilet and shower facilities.
Surrounding area: The Club is situated 2 miles from the main M8 motorway which bisects central Scotland and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling can all be reached by car in under half an hour. The Club is located in the town centre itself and the clubhouse is a five minute walk from the railway station which has a direct link to Edinburgh with a 30 minute service and a journey time of the same duration.
Additional notes: Catering facilities are available seven days and any catering requirements can be met. The Club has a fully stocked Professionals Shop and a teaching Pro is available for lessons. Clubs, caddy cars and electric buggies are available for hire. The club has access and facilities for the disabled.
