This massive tower, situated on an island in the River Dee, was built by Archibald the Grim in the late 14th century and was later the stronghold of the Black Douglas’s. Ring the bell and the custodian will come to ferry you over the river.
Facilities include, toilets, shop and picnic area. ¾ of a mile walk from Car Park to ferry, 3 miles West of Castle Douglas on A75
Opening Times April to September:
9:30am-6:30pm Monday to Saturday, 2pm-6:30pm Sunday
Admission Adult: £1.80, Child:75p, Concession: £1.30
