This formidable 13th century ruin was first built by Alexander the 2nd . The castle soon fell into the hands of England's Edward the 1st who ordered extensive renovations in 1296-1303. Soon after, the castle was regained by the Scots with Bruce sending his family here for safety in 1306. Parking 1/2 mile away and toilets in the car park.
Opening Times April to September, 9.30am to 6.30pm every day.
Admission Adult £2.50, Child £1.00, Concession £1.90.
