The Glenlivet Distillery Chivas brothers is a company which has been creating and developing successful whisky brands including Chivas Regal for nearly 200 years.

Through the generations Chivas Brothers has maintained its reputation for producing the very finest Scotch whiskies with its principal values of integrity, craftsmanship and service.

The story of Chivas Brothers commences in the early nineteenth century, when a wine and spirit merchant called William Edward set up business in the north east Scottish port of Aberdeen and was joined by a young farmer, by the name of James Chivas.

Strathisla Distillery Their trade was successful and they began to supply the kitchens and cellars of nearby Balmoral Castle, where Queen Victoria came each year with her family and host of retainers. James Chivas was granted a Royal Warrant, commencing almost a century and a half of Royal Patronage. Chivas Brothers formally came into being in the year of the Indian mutiny in 1857. The partnership with William Edward was dissolved and John Chivas joined his brother James to form Chivas Brothers.

With the advantage of Royal Patronage the business expanded dramatically. In imitation of the Queens Highland home, many of the British gentry came to the Highlands to hunt, shoot and fish and, of course drink Chivas Brothers whisky.
