The Isle of Raasay is roughly 13 miles long by 3.5 miles at its widest. It is composed of a wide variety of geological formations and diversity of scenery, which provides an ideal habitat for numerous species of wildlife and plants.
The population of around 170 people almost doubles in summer months.
Local work includes crofting and fishfarming. Gealic is spoken by some and taught in the local school.
