The Victorian Spa village of Strathpeffer is a popular visitor attraction with walks, golf, castles (such as Castle Leod), the annual Highland Gathering and the District Pipe Band and local Highland dancers, who perform in the square from May to September, is but a short drive away.
The scenic and beautiful west coast of Scotland is within an hour's drive. For the energetic there are around nearly 200 "Munros" within a 50 mile radius of the cottage including the wonderful Ben Wyvis that dominates the landscape. Within an easy day trip, you can find a multitude of wonderful scenic drives, walks and historic places to explore.
The pretty village of Contin lies on the main road west from Inverness at the point where the fertile farmlands of Easter Ross give way to the rugged splendour of the West Coast Hills of Highlands typified by Ben Wyvis, Ben Eigh, Liathach, Torridon, Skye and the close at hand yet spectacular Falls of Rogie, all within a easy reach of the village. Then onwards and upwards to wilderness of Caithness & Sutherland.
Inverness is 20 miles to the south and a 40 mile drive west through magnificent scenery leads to the fishing port of Ullapool where the car ferry leaves for Stornoway. Contin is a centre of excellence for mountain biking and also offers golf, angling, riding, walking and climbing.
