Kildrummy Castle: This formidable 13th century ruin was first built by Alexander the 2nd . The castle soon fell into the hands of England's Edward the 1st who ordered extensive renovations in 1296-1303. Soon after, the castle was regained by the Scots with Bruce sending his family here for safety in 1306.
