Betty: The Heather Story is Scotland's only exhibition presenting, in up to 12 different languages, the historical and modern uses of heather. Thatching, weaving of ropes, "tattie" baskets, doormats, medicinal and culinary applications, wool dyeing etc, how and why heather was used is explained and displayed for all to enjoy.
The entrance fee of £1 for adults, 50p for children and groups and £2 for a family, not only gives you entry to the exhibition, but also a taste of Heather Cream liqueur which is a blend of malt whisky, double cream and a hint of chocolate! Definitely too good to miss.
Located in the Cairngorms National Park between Grantown on Spey and Aviemore, the Centre is a must for every visitor to the Highlands. It's a real feast for your senses with so much more than white and purple Heather!
