The Highlands
Golf in the Highlands of Scotland? The answer is quite simply that you will be spoilt for choice with courses to suit all abilities and budgets. You’ll be in an area of stunning beauty and tranquility, get to play on beautifully created courses that only nature would allow and of course you’ll be assured a welcome worth a hundred thousand, so what took you so long?
Now is the time to pace yourself, at least for the first couple of days, as the Highland air is well reputed for its tranquilising effect. This will help you relax and enjoy yourself, which will ultimately help to improve your game.
Almost every town in
Scotland
has a golf course or one nearby and the Highlands are no exception. Whether you are playing inland amongst mountains and forests or on the coastal fringes, you will be teased and tantalised by the variety of courses in a vast area, the
Highlands of Scotland
. Some of them, like the natural masterpiece Royal Dornoch, are ranked within the top fifteen of the world’s best 100 golf courses and the rest in comparison, like the two championship courses at
Nairn
, or the hidden gem at
Boat of Garten
, are all of good to excellent quality. They all have a magnetic charm set in dramatic scenery beside rivers, forests or lochs, in the sheltered glens, moorland or by the coast. You may find it difficult to keep your eye on the ball!
And don’t worry if you don’t want to play golf all the time (which we will find hard to believe), there’s plenty to do to fill up your spare time. If you feel like a change, there’s always fishing on some of the finest rivers and lochs, water sports, boat trips on lochs or at sea, island hopping or whale & dolphin watching, climbing up mountains, walking or pony trekking through the glens, cycling on country roads or through forest tracks and trails, delve a little into the history with castles battlefields, museums and standing stones, gardens distilleries…………or you could play another round of golf!.
