Tarbet is one of the villages around Loch Lomond that Queen Victoria referred to as a "small town with splendid mountains and woodlands". Tarbet is the terminus of the ferry to Handa Island, but this is only one of many reasons why tourists come to this village. When you visit Tarbet today you will see those same picturesque images and realize what it is that draws tourists to this place. Here you will find some of the most scenic mountain peaks in Scotland, which provides you with ample opportunity for hill walking. In fact these mountain peaks are often called the "Arrochar Alps".
