Come visit an area of Scotland where you can see the beauty of nature at its finest. The Trossachs National Park consists of a wooded glen bordered by Loch Katrine in the west and Loch Achray in the east. To the south, the boundary is Ben Venue and to the north, it is Ben A’an. The area was opened as a national park in 2002 and since then it has become the favourite vacation destination of a large number of people from Scotland and beyond. There are many towns located within the boundaries of the Trossachs National Park. The southern entrance to the park is at Aberfoyle. Balquihidder, where you can see the grave of Rob Roy, Brig o’Turk, with its interesting bridges and Strathyre are some of the other villages where you will find accommodations, restaurants and pubs and attractions of all kinds.
Strathyre is a small village where you can enjoy many sheltered walks, but you can also walk the Trossach Trail, which will take you through the whole area. There are many historic sites along the way and points of interest, where you will want to stop and take a rest. Make sure you bring plenty of film with you or a large memory card because with the breathtaking scenery, you will have lots of photos of the Trossachs National Park to show the folks back home. Some of the main attractions in the park include the Hamilton Toy Museum, the Queen Elizabeth Forest, Inchmahome Priory and the Breadalbane Centre. The Scottish Wool Centre in Aberfoyle is of interest to every member of the family with its demonstrations, shopping opportunity for Scottish hand knit sweaters and a restaurant where you can buy every kind of food from haggis to Scotch whisky. Inchmahome Priory is quite near Duane Castle in the little village of Duane. Pictish hill forts abound showing you a glimpse of the early habitation of the Trossachs National Park.
Walking and cycling are popular activities in the Trossachs National Park. The Loch Lomond Area of the park has tremendous hillwalking experiences where you can climb the hills and high peaks to have a stunning view of the countryside below. If cycling is your favourite vacation activity, there are many excellent cycling routes within this park. Fishing and golfing are also high on the list of things to do and there are two golf courses where you can tee off in Callander and Aberfoyle. At various times of the year, there are events and festivals taking place in the towns and villages in the Trossachs National Park. The Callander Highland Games draws large crowds of visitors each year, both to compete and to watch. With the wealth of accommodations, you will not have difficulty finding comfortable lodgings for the duration of your visit. The many restaurants and eateries offer a wide variety of food selections and of course you have to drop into the pub for a refreshing drink.
