Walkerburn Walkerburn, originally a mill town, the earliest dwelling recorded was situated on the present site of Caberston Farm. Both Purvis Hill and Plora Hill have remains of ancient terraces of unknown origin - although those on Purvis Hill are believed to belong to the Pictish period. The River Tweed flows through the town and its excellent fishing facilities are used extensively by visiting fishermen. At one time there was supposed to be a small hamlet of the South side of the Tweed called Lincumdoddie about which Robert Burns composed his famous comic song during his travels in the area. However there is a rival site at Tweedsmuir.!

Walkerburn The ruined Elibank Castle, one-time home of the legendary Mucke Moo-ed Meg, is a few miles from Walkerburn. Thornylee, on the opposite side of the valley, provides a wonderful view of the Castle and good woodland walks.
