Glenluce Abbey Nestled in a scenic valley ate the mouth of the Water of Luce, just off A-75, is the historic village of Glenluce. The history of this town dates back to the 12th century, with the founding of Glenluce Abbey. Roland, Earl of Galloway brought the monks here to make the abbey their home here. Throughout the ages, many famous people have stayed here, including Robert the Bruce, James IV and Mary, Queen of Scots.

Every visit to Glenluce has to include a trip to the Abbey. The remains of this Cistercian house are located in a tranquil valley and include a 16th century chapter house filled with artefacts. The grassy area is perfect for a quiet stroll in fine weather and there are steps you can climb to visit the cloister.

The Castle Kennedy Gardens are another must on your vacation itinerary.
