Located in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland, Lockerbie is a town of just over 4000 people. It is about 74 miles from Glasgow and 20 miles from the border with England. You won't have any difficulty getting to Lockerbie because it has a train station and it is just off the A74 Motorway. In its early history, Lockerbie was an important centre for trading cattle and sheep. Due to this fact and its proximity to the English border, the economy of the town was also heavily dependent on trade with England. Archaeological evidence suggests that this area was inhabited as far back as the 10th century and the name of the town comes from the Old Norse language, meaning Loki's Village. You can visit the ruins of an old Roman camp, which suggests that the history of this town predates the Norse invaders.
