Located in the Kingdom of Fife on the Firth of Forth, Burntisland is a town with a history dating back about 4000 years. It has a population of about 6000 people and is very popular with tourists either as a vacation destination or for a day trip to the beach. The annual fair in the summer draws crowds of visitors as do the Highland Games, the crowning of the Summer Queen and the Civic Parade. There is an 18-hole golf course here as well as a leisure centre where you can continue with your fitness routine while on holiday. Both the A909 and the A921 will take you to Burntisland from the A92. It also has a train station and is on the main East Coast Rail Network. The area is known for its sandy beaches and as the site of the 15th century Rossend Castle. Queen Mary often spent time at this castle and when she was imprisoned the people here were dispossessed of their lands.
