Just 15 miles north of Inverness on the A862, you can have a true golfing holiday when you choose to visit Muir of Ord. This village in Easter Ross is only 3 miles from Beauly. The MacKenzies of Ord developed this town in the 19th century as a centre for whisky distilling with the coming of the road and railway to the area. The area is still well known for its cultivation of barley for malting. The economy of the town depends on tourism, distilling, construction and metal fabrication.
