Located in the heart of Cairngorms National Park, the town of Newtonmore is the ideal location to choose for touring this part of the Scottish Highlands. Here you will find the most spectacular scenery, especially in autumn when the trees start to change colours. Take the Wildcat Trail around the town and on this 10 km walk you will get to see the nature of Newtonmore in all its beauty. You will get a chance to get a close look at the wildlife and plant life of the area. The stunning views of the Cairngorms and the Monadhliath Mountains will stay in your memories long after you return home. Visit the Highland Folk Museum and learn about the lives of the early people. Whole buildings have been restored to make this a living history museum where you will see staff in period costume carrying out the activities that were common 400 years ago. The Clan MacPherson Museum contains many artefacts belonging to the clan and the orator of the museum is a wealth of information. This museum is open from April to October and although there is no admission charge, all donations are gratefully accepted.
